Japanese interpreters have been playing a crucial bridging role between Japanese companies and local Malaysia companies for the past few decades. You may have seen professional Japanese interpreters in action under different circumstances in the past such as interpretation during press conference, technical interpretation during production machine line setup in factories, whispering interpretation during business meetings and negotiations, consecutive interpretation during business presentation or simultaneous interpretation during forums or international conferences.

There are currently over 1000 Japanese companies operating in Malaysia mainly dealing with manufacturing and professional services fields. In addition, it's estimated that more than 1,000,000 businesses are directly or indirectly carrying out business activities with Japanese companies. The biggest challenge happens when local companies are required to communicate with their Japanese clients or suppliers in Japanese language. English alone may not be sufficient even though the Japanese counterparts can speak intermediate to fluent English. Many who tried to communicate in English would notice that there are tons of important hints or information missing which contributes to the misinterpretation in communication contexts. Most of the people are not aware that the most important aspect of Japanese interpreting services is not the literal interpretation at vocabulary level but rather a holistic overall interpretation taking in account the whole thinking processes and cultures of Japanese.

There are currently more than 300 professional Japanese interpreters registered with TRANSLIFE which makes us the biggest translation agency having the biggest team of Japanese interpreters in Malaysia. Our Japanese interpreters are proficient in several language pairs such as English to Japanese and vice versa, Malay to Japanese and vise versa & Chinese to Japanese and vise versa. All of them have mastered Japanese and worked before for Japanese companies both locally and in Japan. Hence, they understand the work culture and the business culture of Japan deep to their heart. This is critical especially when you want to ensure that the communication with your important VIP clients are effective and able to deliver the results you wish to achieve.

If you are considering to engage a Japanese interpreter for your upcoming event, TRANSLIFE is the best option you have. We certainly offer the best Japanese interpreting services in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia and also other regions throughout Malaysia.

Types of Japanese Interpreting Services?

Get It Right!

Consecutive Interpretation

The speaker and the Japanese interpreter will take turn to speak alternately instead of speaking non-stop. The consecutive interpreter will take down notes while the speaker is talking. Once the speaker stops talking, the interpreter will start translating what the speaker just spoke by referring to his own notes.

Suitable Usage:

Business meeting, press conference, technical training or setup in factory, interview, seminar, internal corporate meeting

Whispering Interpretation

The Japanese interpreter will sit behind the audience and interpreter by whispering beside the ear. 1 interpreter usually can only interpret for 1 audience. The maximum audiences for this type of interpretation is 2. Any numbers more than 2 will affect the surrounding people as the interpreter will need to speak loud enough to be heard.

Suitable Usage:

Business meeting, conference, seminar, forum and internal corporate meeting

Simultaneous Interpretation

2 to 3 Japanese interpreters will be sitting in an interpreter booth to interpret. Each interpreter will take turn to interpret every 15 to 20 minutes which is the optimum focus time. If the interpreter translates longer than that, the quality of interpretation will be affected as he will start losing his focus. While 1 interpreter is in action, the other interpreter will be resting to recover.

Suitable Usage:

Forum, seminar, conference & site visit

Native Japanese interpreter or Local Malaysian interpreter?

At TRANSLIFE we realize that the most effective interpretations happen when a native speaker translates. Even if the interpreter is fluent in a language, you know that a slight accent is a giveaway and that particular cultural references or nuances are almost impossible to grasp if you are not raised speaking the Japanese language.

Here is our recommendation. If your audience is Malaysian, then you should hire a local Malaysian Korean interpreter. If your audience is Korean, then you should go for a native Korean interpreter. Hence, you need to inform us your audience profiles first in order for us to assign the right interpreters for you.

We make it a MUST to only engage native-speaking interpreters who are fluent in the target language. We believe that this is the best way to make sure your message is heard and received with the right sentiment and cultural contexts without unintentionally offending the target audience.

All our Japanese interpreters have impeccable credentials such as:

1) At least undergraduate degrees in their interpretive language or conference interpretation degree from an accredited university or academic program;
2) Professional memberships and affiliations with ITBM, MTA or other world’s leading interpretation organizations, the bulk of which require a peer review process before becoming a member;
3) At least 5 years of professional conference interpreting experience
